Dear Nishant,
You have indeed touched on a very important issue, that is, to come up with realistic funding support when passing idealistic bills.
I have often made similar points in parliament, for example, supporting the education cess since it overcomes a fundamental hypocrisy (we had earlier made education free and compulsory for children upto the age of 14, but were providing only 1/3rd of the funds necessary to actually make that happen).

I will indeed take up the matter in Parliament.

With best wishes,
Baijayant Panda

Dear Sir / Madam,

Greetings from SICHREM !!!

The biggest strength is its expertise and experience in conducting human rights education programmes.

I was going through the News Letters by Child Reporters that were being given at the ISF Venue and thought that a word of appreciation is due. Congratulations for the hard work and creative writing.

Child Reporters in Indian Social Forum

We,Three child reporters each from Koraput and Dhenkanal two from Keonjhar, one from Bhubaneswar and four from West Bengal , had been to Delhi recently to participate in the Child Rights For World Social Forum(CR4WSF), which was a part of Indian Social Forum.
Our participation in the forum was to interact with children and child loving people , who had come there. While we were in the train to Delhi ,we met many people who loved children very much . We learnt many things from them .
Yes we met one girl in the train . She was sweeping the floor in the train. We talked to her . She told on how she was facing problems in her village after her parents had died. She had to discontinue her studies to feed herself . She was no more interested to get educated as she was more concerned about her income in the train. We shared the fruits with her . She was happy .
We went to Delhi and ISF. We talked to the children and adults and wrote what we observed and learnt .We stayed for three days and brought out three newsletters . We are thankful to each one who had talked to us , enquired on our activities in the villages .
We are thankful to CACL and UNICEF for taking us there and have such a nice experience . We are sharing our experience with our friends.
With regards
Child Reporters.

hi everyone. i came across this blog today through the UNICEF website. I have currently returned from my studies in Australia where i had researched and written a thesis on child abuse and protection-cross cultural perspective. I am an Indian and in search for some on ground work. I want to engage myself in soem pratctical reality and on ground work in this field after safely placing myself in sociological theory. Since most of you are directly involved in this work adn in observation of childrens progress and affairs across India i would seek you guidance. Suggestions for work, for contacts, for interaction are more than welcome.

I was talking to Madhab Makir of Gulapandi. He told that during the heavy rains a few days back, Gora Pangi, a seven year old child from his village got drowned in the canal water while going to his school . Villagers rescued him from the water and he is alive .

Friends From Belgium

Three young friends , Ellen,Annete and Gerrit from Belgium came to our school recently. They are so nice . They talked to us , asked us on our education , culture and tradition and a lot more . We too asked them about their country . We were happy to learn that education is compulsory in Belgium . It was nice to hear that the parents take care to leave their children in their school. They also told that they liked Koraput district very much .We invited them and many more friends from their country to come to our village. We took them to our house and the entire village . They were happy and we too.

PARAB-2006

Every year we celebrate Parab- the state level tribal festival . As a part of it we celebrate at the panchayat level with Dances and particiapate in many sports events . But we were not happy this time .Every year we had some one from outside as the chief guest on the occasion . But there was no such person this time.We used to get some prizes . But this time we had to be happy with some certificates .Still then we had learnt a dance and performed before our own village people.
